Difference between JPEG and BMP image file format

JPEG stands for Joint Photographic Experts Group.
BMP stands for Bitmap.
JPEG file format are compressed file.
BMP file format are uncompressed files.
JPEG images have low resolution.Because,It can lose the unwanted pixels from the image when compressing.





BMP images have high resolution.Because, each and every pixel is colored, laying out a detailed map.



JPEG image format is well suited for nearly 16 million of colors.
Bitmap image format is well suited for limited color images.
JPEG format format images are smaller in size.Because they are compressed.It has capability to know the which pixel is important and which pixel is not.
BMP format images are larger in size.Because they are uncompressed.
If we edit the JPEG formatted images then they loss the resolution.Because they are compressed.
If we edit the BMP formatted images then also images have good resolution.because they are uncompressed.
JPEG format images are less in Quality.
BMP format images are having good Quality.
JPEG files are mainly used in photographic images.
BMP format images are used as icons.
