- Constancy means the quality of being same.
- Something / someone never change.
- Stability is the another name for the Constancy.
Perceptual constancy :
- Perceptual constancy is perceiving objects with constant shape, size, and color regardless of changes in perspective, distance and lighting.
- Perceptual constancy means an Image or object size, shape and color will be same.But, when we look those from different distances then object's size, shape and color will vary.
Types of perceptual constancy :
- Size constancy
- Shape constancy.
- Light constancy.
Size constancy :
- Size constancy means when distance increases between an our Eye and object,we will fell like object size is varying.But,object size is same(no change).
Shape constancy :
- Shape constancy means the shape of the object as it is constant.The actual shape of the object is sensed by the eye as changing then received by the brain as the same object shape changed.
Light constancy :
- Light constancy means we felt that object color is changing when light is on and off. But ,object color is not changed.Object color is constant .
- Light constancy means ability to see that the apparent brightness of light and dark surfaces remains more or less the the same under different luminance conditions is called lightness constancy.
