Compression Losses

     1.Lossy Compression.
     2.Lossless Compression.

1.Lossy Compression :

  • In Lossy compression,some loss of information also acceptable during the compression.
  • Lossy compression mainly focus on the reducing the size of file.
   Advantages :
  • Size of the file is reduced.
  • Easy to transfer the file over the internet.
  • Reduce the time taken to transfer.

   Disadvantages :

  • Image will loss the quality and clarity.
  • It is impossible to retain the quality when we do decompression also.


2.Lossless Compression :

  • In Lossless compression reduce the size of a file with out loss of  the useful information from the file.   
  • Lossless compression mainly focus on the quality of the file after that only size file.
  • In Lossless compression,data remains same when decompress the file at receiver side.
  Advantages :
  • Quality of image is same like original file.

  Disadvantages :

  • It will reduce the less amount of file size .
  • Because of size of a file it will take to much time for transferring the file from one place to the other places.
